What happens when 3/4ths of Black Sabbath come together with smoke-breathing gargoyles in Tinley Park, IL? Rock Happens. That’s what.

This three-quarter Black Sabbath reunion band (with drummer Vinnie Appice) plays under the name Heaven and Hell (the title of Sabbath’s first record with Dio, in 1980).

It was really cool to see these guys still rocking hard. I’ve always loved Black Sabbath, albeit the Ozzy version of course, but Dio’s still got it, man.

The Car Again, Sleeper Car

My love for cars as props continues with a recent promo shoot with Mike Musikantow and Sleeper Car. These guys were really great to work with and J.J. (left) did not mind the roof of his car caving in. Check my main site for some more work with Sleeper Car.

What the Hell Am I Eating?

Some friends and I decided to record everything we eat/drink for entire week. Today is the last day, and I tried to take as many photos as I could of things I ate. (Complete record and photos in a future post) This is a peanut butter cookie I ate last week on a really nice vintage Gold Wing.

Cold, Hard Cashews

Another assignment for Chicago Reader, also written by Mike Sula. This story is about Craig Leva and his Arway Confections candy and nut factory on the Northwest Side of Chicago. Craig was really funny but he made me wear a hairnet. This is an outtake from the shoot.

People Vacation to Lake, Lake Takes Vacation.

This is Lake Delton, in Wisconsin Dells. Massive rains caused the lake to flow over the levee, causing it to drain in a matter of 4 hours. This picture was taken about 2 months after the incident. I went on a duck tour (we have these in Chicago, too- it’s an amphibious thrill ride of epic proportions) where the guide said that after the repairs are made, they’ll open up some sort of newly built wall, and the man-made lake will refill on its own in about 30 days.

Underground Cheese

These are some photos I did for Chicago Reader, illustrating a story by Mike Sula about Willi Lehner, a Wisconsin cheese maker who has made a $100K underground bunker for aging specialty cheeses. The top photo is the one that ran with the story, and the bottom two are outtakes from the shoot.

Cheesy Poofs

Plain and simple.

Route 173, Antioch, IL

I was driving along and had to do a U-turn when I noticed this burned out building with only its chimney left standing. Word around town has it that this was a kennel that went out of business and the Antioch Fire Dept burned it as an exercise. I’m not really into exercising, but if I could burn houses down, I would be.

Around the back of the lot, I found (I think) the actual kennels that were once used to board dogs. Bad dogs.

Catching Up

I’m trying to stay on top of this blog, but posting regularly is not quite a habit just yet. Working on it!

OK, so I now have a blog. If you’re looking at this regularly, you may find that there are a bunch of photos that I haven’t done anything with for a long time. They will not even come close to being in chronological order, but I’ll do my best.
